As-Salam-Alaikum Dear Parents,
InshaAllah, this letter reaches you in the best of health and iman…Ameen.
I will begin today’s newsletter by addressing the current events that are on everyone’s mind. As the violent turmoil unfolds in Palestine and the country we live in supports counterattacks, an uncertain climate ensues for Muslims living in America. This brings the safety of our students to the center of our focus as a school. With this in mind, the board and admin have issued a soft lockdown for Rockford Iqra School this past week. The following safety measures have been in place and will continue until further notice, insha'Allah:
- Hourly perimeter checks; Every hour Br. Luli will drive around our campus which includes MAGR, Iqra School, and UFC.
- No outside activities (indoor recess and PE)
- Blinds and windows closed
- Classroom doors closed and locked
- Increased vigilance and situational awareness.
- Any member of the community is to report any unusual or suspicious activity.
Make Allah swt continue to guide and protect us..Ameen. Our duas are for all who reside in Palestine and for their families affected all over the world.
October is Fire Safety Month and our students participated in a few relevant activities. Last week Iqra School held its first of three fire drills. Alhamduilah, students and staff exited the building in a timely manner. Drills such as these are done periodically to ensure that proper procedures are being implemented. Please speak to your child about following directions and taking practice drills seriously.
Also last week, the Cherry Valley Fire Department visited our school with their compartmentalized RV in tow. Classes went inside the mobile home and had a presentation on fire safety in the kitchen, bedroom, and family room. They concluded the presentation by having students practice climbing down a small ladder connected to a window in the mobile home. 1st-4th grade students also participated in the annual Fire Safety Poster Contest. We had winners in each class. Furthermore, Dala Hariz won second place among all surrounding area submissions. Congratulations to our winners! Their posters will be posted around the school building for everyone to view.
Rockford Iqra School participated in a toiletry drive coordinated by Rockford Refugee Support Program. More than 780 items were collected by our students and will be distributed to families who have recently migrated to Rockford, inshaAllah. Second-grade students collected the most items, with a total of 165 items. Runners-up were first and fifth grade, with 159 items collected. Students were awarded with ice cream sundaes, apple cider donuts, and cookies for participation.
MAP test results are coming home today. Please review your child’s test results. If your child has lower than expected scores the school may contact you to discuss how to best help your child supplement their learning.
Our Social Studies Fair is this Friday, October 20, 2023. We will be holding the fair in the UFC this year, inshaAllah. Scroll down the newsletter for more details about the fair.

سأبدأ النشرة الإخبارية اليوم بمعالجة الأحداث الجارية التي تدور في أذهان الجميع. وبينما تتكشف الاضطرابات العنيفة في فلسطين والدولة التي نعيش فيها تدعم الهجمات المضادة، ينشأ مناخ غير مؤكد بالنسبة للمسلمين الذين يعيشون في أمريكا. وهذا يضع سلامة طلابنا في مركز اهتمامنا كمدرسة. مع أخذ هذا في الاعتبار، أصدر مجلس الإدارة والإدارة إغلاقًا مخففًا لمدرسة روكفورد اقرأ الأسبوع الماضي. تم اتخاذ إجراءات السلامة التالية، وستستمر حتى إشعار آخر إن شاء الله:

أكتوبر هو شهر السلامة من الحرائق، وقد شارك طلابنا في بعض الأنشطة ذات الصلة. في الأسبوع الماضي، أجرت مدرسة اقرأ أول تدريباتها على مكافحة الحرائق من أصل ثلاثة. والحمد لله، خرج الطلاب والموظفون من المبنى في الوقت المناسب. يتم إجراء مثل هذه التدريبات بشكل دوري لضمان تنفيذ الإجراءات المناسبة. يرجى التحدث مع طفلك حول اتباع التوجيهات وأخذ التدريبات على محمل الجد.
أيضًا، في الأسبوع الماضي، زارت إدارة إطفاء Cherry Valley مدرستنا مع عربة سكن متنقلة مجزأة. ذهبت الفصول الدراسية داخل المنزل المتنقل وقدمت عرضًا تقديميًا حول السلامة من الحرائق في المطبخ وغرفة النوم وغرفة العائلة. واختتموا العرض التقديمي من خلال تدريب الطلاب على تسلق سلم صغير متصل بنافذة في المنزل المتنقل. كما شارك طلاب الصف الأول إلى الرابع في المسابقة السنوية لملصقات السلامة من الحرائق. كان لدينا فائزين في كل فئة. علاوة على ذلك، فازت دالا حريز بالمركز الثاني بين جميع المشاركات في المنطقة المحيطة. تهانينا للفائزين! سيتم نشر ملصقاتهم في جميع أنحاء مبنى المدرسة ليراها الجميع.
شاركت مدرسة روكفورد اقرأ في حملة أدوات الزينة التي نسقها برنامج روكفورد لدعم اللاجئين. تم جمع أكثر من 780 قطعة من قبل طلابنا وسيتم توزيعها على العائلات التي هاجرت مؤخرًا إلى روكفورد، إن شاء الله. حصل طلاب الصف الثاني على أكبر عدد من العناصر، بمجموع 165 فقرة. وكان الوصيفان من الصف الأول والخامس، حيث تم جمع 159 مادة. تم منح الطلاب مثلجات الآيس كريم وكعك عصير التفاح والبسكويت للمشاركة.
